Salem Dendou is an actor and director, who was born 1968 in the city of Chinguetti, Mauritania. He studied law and joined the dramatic arts union during the end of the 1980s where his theatrical acting talents were discovered by prominent writers and directors such as Khalil Tafish who supervised his training for three years. Salem directed many theatrical plays, then joined the TV production scene as an actor in multiple shows. His interest in cinema began in the early 2000s. The last film he made was Tita: The Mint Seller (2016). He acted in multiple Mauritanian films including Timbuktu (2014) by Abderahmane Sissako.
